If you have trouble relaxing in your bedroom before you go to sleep it could be that your room simply isn’t cosy enough. There are many things you can do to help you relax and enjoy the room we should be spending a third of our lives in – that is if you manage a full 8 hours of sleep a night! Here are our top 5 tips for making your bedroom cosier.
Candles in the bedroom can definitely make it feel cosier by creating a warm ambience to the room. Scented candles can fill your room with a beautiful smell to help you relax and if you spread a few of them across the room, they’ll create a glowing atmosphere. However, be careful you don’t fall asleep with any candles still lit, and don’t light candles next to soft furnishings such as curtains or drapes to minimise fire risk!
Low, mood lighting in your bedroom is a simple way to make your bedroom feel cosy. A new bedside lamp, a small reading nook light or a chain of fairy lights are just a few of your options for bedtime lighting. Why not string up fairy lights around some of your favourite photos or as a makeshift headboard for your bed! Salt lamps are a great way to make your room feel cosier too as they are believed to have health benefits such as boosting your mood, soothing allergies and helping you sleep. It is also thought that they cleanse and purify the air in your home!
How often do you replace the pillows on your bed? Research has found we should be replacing them at least once a year! If your pillows are starting to feel lumpy or need regularly re-fluffing to make them comfortable then it’s time to buy new ones! Scatter cushions on your bed can also make your bedroom feel more inviting and cosier.
Change the Colour Scheme
We often opt for white or very pale colours around our houses to give that light, open and bigger feel, whereas in our bedrooms we want to feel cosy and warm, so painting the walls a ‘cosy’ colour can make it feel more relaxing. Warm colours such as reds, oranges and yellows can make even the biggest of bedrooms feel cosier, or perhaps you fancy some pastel or earthy tones to create the perfect atmosphere for your bedroom!
Get Cosy with an Electric Blanket
An electric blanket is perfect for making your bed and in turn, your bedroom feels cosier. Not only practical in keeping you warm in the winter months – or even all year round if you feel the cold – but economical. Electric blankets are much cheaper to run than having your central heating on in your bedroom throughout winter, and they only heat up you and your bed, not the whole room! Our range of electric blankets are ideal for helping you to relax before bed and helping you to fall asleep quicker and have a better quality of sleep. With different heat settings, you can find the temperature that is perfect for you, and if there are two of you sharing a bed, our dual temperature electric blankets mean that you can heat up each side of the bed to your different preferred temperatures.
